The Tempe Municipal Court invites Tempe and Kyrene school district students in fourth, fifth and sixth grades to take part in the Law Day 2026 art contest. Law Day is an annual commemoration held on May 1 to celebrate the rule of law and cultivate a deeper understanding of the legal system.
Students may draw, paint, sketch or create a collage depicting this year's theme: "The Rule of Law and the American Dream." Students can work alone or in groups of two, though posters may not exceed 11x17", and each poster should include student(s) name, teacher name, grade and school on the back.
All entries are due by April 20. To schedule a class presentation or pick-up for art contest entries, contact Alisha Major at 480-350-8454 or [email protected]. Visit tempe.gov/LawDay to learn more.
All entries will be showcased April 28 through May 10 at the Tempe History Museum. Cash prizes will be presented to the winners. Winners, along with their families and teachers, will be invited to attend a City Council meeting on April 30 at 6 p.m. to be recognized.
Law Day is a national celebration created by the American Bar Association. A theme is chosen each year to educate students on the American legal system and how it contributes to our freedom. The Tempe Municipal Court takes part in the celebration every year.
