TechNet Urges FAA and TSA to Finalize Performance-Based Drone Rules that Strengthen U.S. Innovation and Safety

Washington, D.C. - TechNet, the national, bipartisan network of tech CEOs and senior executives, submitted comments from CEO Linda Moore to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) on their proposed rule, Normalizing Unmanned Aircraft Systems Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) Operations. TechNet commended the FAA for taking a performance-based approach that supports innovation while maintaining safety, and called for refinements to the new rule to ensure clarity, proportionality, and global competitiveness.

"The commercial drone industry has long supported a comprehensive, flexible regulatory framework to replace the current patchwork of requirements, which would provide stability and allow for innovation, thereby increasing our global competitiveness in an industry with significant commercial and national security implications. With the right improvements, this rulemaking can support the fast-moving commercial drone industry in the U.S. and help us lead globally," Moore said.
