Free Webinar April 28: Sales Tax Exemptions

NASHVILLE -- The Department of Revenue will host a free webinar on sales tax exemptions on April 28 at 9 a.m. Central time.

During this webinar, our staff will provide an overview of Tennessee's sales tax exemptions and how they apply to businesses across the state. This session will break down common exemption categories, documentation requirements, and compliance best practices. Whether you work in retail, manufacturing, services, or tax administration, this webinar will give you clear, actionable guidance for navigating Tennessee's exemption rules with confidence.

The Department of Revenue is responsible for administering state tax laws and motor vehicle title and registration laws, as well as collecting taxes and fees associated with those laws. The department collects about 87 percent of the total state revenue. During the 2025 fiscal year, it collected $21 billion in state taxes and fees, as well as more than $5 billion in taxes and fees for local governments.
