Total enrollment in the College of Business and Economics reached 1,479 in fall 2026, a 24% increase over the previous academic year, a 49% increase over the last four years, and a 7-year enrollment high.
"We are thrilled to see our enrollment numbers returning to pre-pandemic levels, close to those we saw in 2019," said Deanna Kennedy, dean of the College of Business and Economics. "This is a testament not only to the success of Western's direct admissions initiative - which has made it easier and more accessible for students to become part of our community earlier on - but also to the dedicated efforts of our faculty and staff to meaningfully engage prospective and current students."
Western's new direct admit to major program allows students to declare certain majors as soon as they are admitted to Western so they can start engaging with their academic and career goals as soon as they arrive. Nine CBE majors are available for direct admission this year with more being added in the 2027-28 academic year.
