Commerce Celebrates U.S. Commercial Aerospace Deals at the Farnborough Airshow

FARNBOROUGH, ENGLAND - The U.S. Department of Commerce's International Trade Administration celebrated the signing of three commercial aerospace deals at the Farnborough Airshow in England. JetZero and Bahrain's Gulf Air signed a Letter of Intent to pre-order JetZero's next generation Z4 all-wing design aircraft. Boeing and Philippine Airlines signed a Memorandum of Understanding establishing an agreement for the purchase of up to 20 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, powered by GE Aerospace GEnx engines. Boeing and Uganda Airlines announced the purchase of four 787 Dreamliner and four 737 MAX jets.

"These commercial deals underscore American global aerospace leadership and the resurgence of U.S. manufacturing under President Trump," said Under Secretary for International Trade William Kimmitt. "American workers and technology are building the world's most advanced aircraft, expanding U.S. exports, and reinforcing America's position as the global leader in aerospace."

The JetZero-Gulf Air signing ceremony indicates Gulf Air's strong interest in preserving preferential slots for the Z4 to grow their network and power their fleet efficiently. Gulf Air is JetZero's Middle East launch partner. In June 2026, JetZero celebrated the groundbreaking for their $4.7 billion, 8 million square foot manufacturing facility and final assembly campus in Greensboro, North Carolina. This new manufacturing facility is expected to create 14,500 jobs over the next 10 years. JetZero has partnered with major U.S. aerospace, technology, and airline companies to make the Z4 aircraft for commercial air travel.

The Boeing-Philippine Airlines agreement builds on the companies' 80-year partnership, with Boeing as the oldest major commercial airline maker in the world and Philippine Airlines the oldest major commercial airline in Asia. The Uganda Airlines purchase is its first order for 737 MAX and 787 Dreamliner jets, boosting the airline's capacity to meet rising travel demand from the East African region. All Boeing 787 Dreamliners are manufactured in North Charleston, South Carolina. In November 2025, Boeing marked the groundbreaking for a $1 billion expansion for increased 787 Dreamliner production, including a new 1.2 million square foot facility for final assembly. This investment is expected to add an additional 1,000 jobs over the next five years to Boeing's current 9,000+ South Carolina workforce.
