On any given day, thousands of Warriors keep Wayne State moving forward, united by a shared commitment to the university and its students. From faculty, advisors and student support staff to groundskeepers, custodians, IT specialists, librarians, researchers and countless other professionals, every corner of campus is powered by WSU's approximately 7,000 dedicated employees.
Human Resources works year-round to build and foster a culture of excellence and recognition among employees daily. The team is busy gearing up for the annual Employee Recognition Ceremony on Oct. 21, to be followed by Employee Recognition Week, held November 3-7.
The Employee Recognition Ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21 in the Community Arts Auditorium, with a reception to follow at the McGregor Memorial Center. The ceremony - expected to be at full capacity - will honor 1,274 individuals, including retirees, Value Award recipients, and employees who have achieved years of service milestones, beginning at 10 years of service. Listings of honorees are available on the Employee Recognition website.
"Wayne State's faculty and staff are among the very best - and they choose to be here, sharing their talents to better our university and further its mission," said Carolyn Hafner, associate vice president and chief human resources officer. "We look forward to expressing our sincerest appreciation for all of our employees' service, contributions and commitment - they truly are at the heart of what makes Wayne State so special."
Following the ceremony, HR will further shine a light on those who make a positive impact and help WSU achieve its mission during Employee Recognition Week from Nov. 3-7. Each day will focus on an important aspect of excellence, ways to recognize and thank colleagues, and spotlight an awardee whose work exemplifies WSU's values in the categories: Warrior Heroes, Warrior Excellence, Warrior Trailblazers, Warriors Who Care and Warrior Leadership.
