SEOUL, 21 January 2026 - The EU Delegation to the Republic of Korea, through its climate-dedicated EU-Korea Green Partnership Programme (GPP), is partnering with Green Environment Youth Korea (GEYK) to host a forum on biodiversity and renewables on 29 January 2026. This youth-led forum highlights the role this generation plays in exploring how renewable energy expansion can be implemented in ways that protect and enhance biodiversity.

The forum focuses on collaborative solutions to address ecosystem concerns during the development of energy projects, such as offshore wind and solar farms. To achieve this, the event highlights the importance of "local acceptance," illustrating how large-scale green energy projects can be designed to support the livelihoods of local communities. This integrated approach seeks to build public trust and ensure that the transition to clean energy is both inclusive and environmentally sustainable.

The program brings together European renewable energy experts, Korean policy experts and youth advocates for a knowledge exchange on integrating biodiversity considerations into energy strategies. This event will conclude with a networking reception and a screening of a film on biodiversity. This combination of technical dialogue and cultural engagement celebrates the forum's mission to inspire long-term momentum for the planet's future.
