MOLINE, IL - Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) will host a Service Academy Night on September 8, 2026, to help students and their families learn more about opportunities at the nation's service academies and the congressional nomination process. The event will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Moline Public Library, 3210 41st St, Moline, IL 61265.
It will feature a brief speaking program followed by an information fair where students and families can meet with representatives from the U.S. service academies, ask questions and learn more about the admissions process, academy life and available opportunities.
"Service academies offer students an incredible opportunity to serve their country while receiving a world-class education and developing as leaders," said Congressman Sorensen. "I want students across Central and Northwestern Illinois to know that these opportunities are available to them and that my office is here to help them navigate the nomination process."
Students interested in attending the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy or U.S. Merchant Marine Academy are encouraged to attend with their families. Congressman Sorensen's office will also provide information about the congressional nomination application process and requirements.
Applications for Congressman Sorensen's 2027 service academy nominations are currently open. Students must submit their applications by November 1, 2026.
