NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC AND REQUEST FOR INFORMATION
LAS 35422
CHICKALOON VILLAGE TRADITIONAL COUNCIL

Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Southcentral Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:

APPLICANT: CHICKALOON VILLAGE TRADITIONAL COUNCIL

PROJECT NAME: LAS 35422

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: Located on North Buffalo Mine Road, approximately 1,300 feet northeast of North Snowy Mountain Circle.

LEGAL DESCRIPTION: SE1/4NE1/4 of Section 28, Township 19 North, Range 2 East, Seward Meridian.

REQUESTED ACTIVITY: Chickaloon Village Traditional Council is requesting issuance of a land-use permit for the replacement of a culvert on Premier Creek from May through July 2025. Construction will require temporary stream diversion and construction of a temporary detour road and bridge. The channel inlet and outlet modification necessitate the extraction of 4 cubic yards of in-situ material, and backfill of 52 cubic yards of gravel, cobble, and boulders, along with bank construction using rock, topsoil, vegetative mats, and native plants. Approximately 1 acre of trees and brush will be cleared to allow heavy equipment to reach the site. A 225-foot long, single lane diversion road with a 30-foot temporary bridge will be utilized and removed upon project completion.

Start: May 1, 2025
End: September 1, 2025

The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a decision is made on this activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at the Southcentral Regional Land Office, 550 W. 7th Ave., Suite 900C, Anchorage, AK 99501-3577 on or before 5:00 PM on the date noted above.
