Today, the United States and Japan will sign a joint preamble to a forthcoming landmark Declaration in Washington, D.C. on the eve of the Pax Silica Summit, hailing a new geopolitical consensus: economic security is national security, and national security is economic security. The United States and Japan affirmed their commitment to jointly pursue multilayered partnerships that strengthen supply chain security, address coercive dependencies and single-points of failure, and advance the adoption of trusted technology ecosystems.

The U.S. - Japan Pax Silica Declaration will be signed by Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs Jacob Helberg and Japanese Ambassador to the United States Shigeo Yamada. In his remarks at the signing event, Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau will highlight the Declaration as advancing U.S. President Donald J. Trump's call for a new era of economic statecraft that produces peace and security for America and its allies through the power of private investment, free enterprise, and economics.

The United States and Japan will explore opportunities to partner on flagship projects across global technology stacks, including connectivity and data infrastructure, compute and semiconductors, advanced manufacturing, logistics, mineral refining and processing, and energy.

The Pax Silica Declaration is intended to be the foundation for a broader partnerships framework, which the United States and Japan intend to pursue with other participants in the Summit.
