On April 23, the Chinese Embassy in Dominica hosted a celebration to mark the 2025 International Chinese Language Day, welcoming teachers and students from the Confucius Classroom at Dominica State College and Goodwill Secondary School. The Chinese Ambassador H.E. Chu Maoming, all embassy diplomats, Chinese teachers from the Confucius Classroom, and volunteers from Chinese enterprises in Dominica attended the event. Several major local media outlets were present to cover the event.
In his remarks, Ambassador Chu expressed his pleasure in joining the attendees to celebrate the 16th United Nations Chinese Language Day. He highlighted that, as one of the world's oldest languages, Chinese language carries the wisdom of 5,000 years of Chinese civilization and serves as a "golden key" to understanding Chinese culture. He emphasized the growing global influence of the Chinese language and its role as a bridge of communication between China and the world. He encouraged students to persevere in their Chinese studies and to become future ambassadors for cultural exchange between China and Dominica, contributing to the long-standing friendship between the two nations.
The event featured a variety of cultural experiences, including Chinese language learning, Peking Opera appreciation, and hands-on activities such as Chinese calligraphy, paper-cutting, dumpling making, and traditional tea ceremonies. Participants immersed themselves in the charm of Chinese culture and enjoyed a vibrant and interactive celebration.
