Applications Now Open for the 2026 Community Academy

The City of West Sacramento is excited to announce that applications are now open for the 2026 Community Academy, a free, seven-session program designed to help residents learn more about how their city government works.

The Community Academy offers an engaging, behind-the-scenes look at City operations through interactive sessions with City staff. Participants will explore how key departments function, how services are delivered, and how important decisions are made in a welcoming and informative environment.

Academy participants will have the opportunity to hear directly from City leaders, including the Police and Fire Chiefs, learn how the City's water is treated and distributed, and gain insight into how building and roadway projects are planned and approved. Ever wondered what the City Clerk does? This is your chance to learn!

Graduates of the Community Academy leave better informed and empowered to get involved in their community, whether by advocating for programs they care about, applying to serve on advisory commissions, or just gaining a deeper understanding of how their city operates.

The 2026 Community Academy begins in March. Applications open January 2, 2026.
