In the News: Vigor Marine Group Shipyards Recognized with National Safety Awards

Multiple VMG facilities recognized by the Shipbuilders Council of America for excellence and continued improvement in workplace safety across U.S. shipyards

Multiple Vigor Marine Group facilities have been recognized by the Shipbuilders Council of America, the national trade association representing the U.S. shipbuilding, maintenance, and repair industry, as part of the organization's 2025 annual safety awards honoring excellence across the maritime industrial base.

VMG facilities in Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, and Norfolk received recognition for excellence in workplace safety and continued improvement in safety performance.

The following VMG facilities received the SCA Award for "Excellence in Safety," recognizing shipyards with a Total Recordable Incident Rate below the industry average:

  • Vigor Marine Portland (Portland, OR)
  • Vigor Marine Seattle (Seattle, WA)
  • Vigor Marine MHI Norfolk (Norfolk, VA)
  • Vigor Marine Fabrication (Vancouver, WA)

In addition, VMG facilities in Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, and Norfolk received the SCA Award for "Improvement in Safety," recognizing shipyards that achieved a 10% or greater reduction in Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) compared to the previous year.

The recognition reflects Vigor Marine Group's continued focus on workplace safety and employee wellbeing across its shipyard operations.

"Ensuring every person who comes to our facilities leaves the same way they arrived is our paramount duty," said VMG CEO Francesco Valente. "We couldn't be more proud of our employees for setting a standard and achieving one of the safest years in our history in 2025."

Valente said the recognition across multiple Vigor Marine Group facilities demonstrates the company's shared commitment to safety culture and accountability throughout its operations.

"It is even more gratifying to see this success reflected across all our facilities, which shows how shared values can drive all of us," he said. "We never rest in our goal to have zero safety incidents, which we know we can achieve because of our employees' unwavering commitment to protecting themselves and each other every day."
