During trips organised as part of "the Personal Data Protection Office on tour across Poland" initiative, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO), Mirosław Wróblewski, has been receiving feedback indicating a need for a stronger local presence of the Office. For this reason, he has decided to launch, on a pilot basis, the first regional consultation point of the Personal Data Protection Office in Rzeszów. This initiative will enable residents to have direct contact with UODO experts in order to obtain advice and to handle matters related to personal data protection, in particular the submission of a complaint to the President of UODO.
"We do not have regional structures, yet we want to make it easier for citizens to have direct contact with the Office and to handle their matters in person. It is important for us to be closer to people. This also helps us, among other things, to gather feedback on society's needs with regard to improving the quality of data protection and enhancing security. In this respect, trips organised as part of the " Personal Data Protection Office on tour across Poland" initiative are extremely valuable and important," said the President of UODO, Mirosław Wróblewski.
The first pilot consultation point will be opened in Rzeszów thanks to the openness and cooperation of the Regional Chamber of Legal Advisers, headquartered at 8 Klementyny Hoffmanowej Street, which has provided space for meetings and consultations. The consultation point will be officially opened by the President of the Personal Data Protection Office, Mirosław Wróblewski, on 15 December 2025, and will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The consultation point will be opened for one day on a cyclical basis, currently once every two months. It will be offered free of charge and without the need for prior registration, so that anyone interested can freely benefit from the support of UODO experts. On-site, it will also be possible to file a complaint with the President of UODO and obtain information about the rights to which one is entitled.
Any subsequent pilot consultation points will be organized gradually, depending on the needs of citizens and UODO's organizational capabilities.
It should also be recalled that, in accordance with Article 45(2) of the Act of 10 May 2018 on the Protection of Personal Data, "In cases justified by the nature and number of personal data protection matters in a given area, the President of the Office may, within the framework of the Office, establish branch units of the Office." Unfortunately, the current UODO budget does not allow for the creation of such a unit. Hence, the initiative to pilot a consultation point for citizens, made possible through the cooperation and hospitality of the local bar association. In the future, the outcomes of its operation will be presented to Parliament, and the question of establishing branch units will also be considered in the context of the relevant portion of the budget.
