The field of artificial intelligence is changing quickly, and understanding the technology requires more than knowing how to use the latest AI tools.
Trident University International's Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence (BSAI) is designed to provide students with a comprehensive foundation in the theory, methods and applications of AI. The online program combines computer science and mathematics with specialized coursework in machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, reinforcement learning and other areas of artificial intelligence.
The BSAI is offered through TUI Precision Trac, Trident's newly created 90-credit bachelor's degree format. The program requires a minimum of 90 credits, providing a focused alternative to Trident's traditional 120-credit bachelor's degree programs.
AI encompasses a growing range of technologies, from machine learning and computer vision to large language models, autonomous agents and systems designed to operate in the cloud, directly on hardware like sensors and smartphones (edge computing), and within robotic systems.1
Trident's BSAI curriculum is designed to introduce students to foundational computing and mathematics before moving into specialized AI subjects. Students will also examine the ethical, security and human considerations involved in designing and applying artificial intelligence.
The curriculum culminates in a capstone project in which students apply concepts and techniques from across the program.

Trident's BSAI includes opportunities to explore areas of artificial intelligence that extend beyond foundational machine learning.
Program electives include Building AI Applications with LLMs and Pretrained Models, which focuses on designing, integrating and evaluating AI-driven applications that use large language models and pretrained generative models.
Students may also study Agentic AI, including autonomous agents, multi-agent systems, decision-making and collective behavior.
Other elective coursework addresses Robotics and Autonomous Systems and AI in Cloud and Edge Computing.
Security is addressed in the program core through AI Security and Adversarial Machine Learning. Students have the opportunity to examine threats involving adversarial attacks, data poisoning, model inversion and prompt injection, along with approaches to building robust, privacy-preserving and trustworthy AI systems.
Developing an AI system involves more than making a model function. Students may examine ethical, societal and policy considerations such as fairness, transparency, bias and accountability.
Students also explore explainable AI, accessibility, user interaction and communicating AI systems to diverse stakeholders. These areas support program outcomes focused on evaluating ethical considerations in AI and communicating complex artificial intelligence information clearly.
Trident's BSAI may appeal to students seeking a fully online artificial intelligence degree program that allows them to balance education with other responsibilities.
This may include working adults, military-affiliated students, career changers and students interested in developing knowledge in areas such as machine learning, generative AI, autonomous systems or AI security.
TUI Precision Trac is Trident's newly developed reduced-credit bachelor's degree format, designed to provide a focused, efficient alternative pathway to graduation for students.
Rather than requiring students to complete the same number of credits on a compressed schedule, TUI Precision Trac reduces the number of credits required for the degree itself. Trident's BS in Artificial Intelligence requires a minimum of 90 credits instead of the 120 credits required by Trident's traditional bachelor's degree programs.
That means:
Because tuition is charged by the credit hour, reducing the curriculum from 120 to 90 required credits means 30 fewer credits to complete and 30 fewer credits to pay for. This structure can reduce both total tuition cost and time to graduation.
TUI Precision Trac is designed to provide a more focused academic pathway without lowering Trident's standards for quality or rigor.
The curriculum is structured around the knowledge and competencies students are expected to develop, with coursework that builds progressively from foundational concepts to more advanced and specialized areas of study.
Students are expected to engage with challenging material, apply what they learn and demonstrate their understanding throughout the program. The streamlined structure is intended to create a more direct path through the curriculum, not reduce the academic expectations students must meet.
TUI Precision Trac is Trident's reduced-credit bachelor's degree format. A reduced-credit degree requires fewer total credits than a traditional bachelor's structure. Through TUI Precision Trac, Trident's BS in Artificial Intelligence requires a minimum of 90 credits, 30 fewer credits than Trident's traditional 120-credit bachelor's degree programs, while maintaining Trident's standards for academic quality and rigor.
In addition to TUI Precision Trac, students may have other opportunities to shorten their path to graduation. Eligible prior learning may include previous college coursework, military education and training, professional training, certifications, licensure and other learning that may be evaluated for academic credit. Trident also offers enrollment options that may allow bachelor's students to take courses in overlapping sessions with staggered start dates.
Transfer credit is evaluated on an individual basis, and Trident makes every attempt to maximize the use of eligible credit. Because of the program's reduced-credit structure, however, Trident may not be able to accept all credits earned at another institution for transfer into the BSAI.*

The curriculum includes Python programming, data structures, discrete mathematics, linear algebra and statistics, followed by specialized coursework in machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision and reinforcement learning. Additional coursework addresses areas including LLMs, agentic AI, robotics, AI security and responsible AI.
Requirements vary by institution. Some graduate or professional programs may require a bachelor's degree to meet minimum credit requirements for admission, so students are responsible for determining whether a reduced-credit program meets the requirements of programs they plan to pursue at other institutions. The same may be true for employers.
