The Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department has been honored with two 2024 Health + Wellness Design Awards from Graphic Design USA, recognizing its commitment to accessible communication and wellness. The awards highlight the department's Nonverbal Communication Sheets and Park Destinations Booklets, both designed to enhance the visitor experience and promote inclusivity.

"Ensuring that every member of our community feels welcome and supported in our parks is a top priority," said Jennifer Cirillo, Director of Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation. "These awards reflect our ongoing efforts to create spaces where you belong-places where everyone can enjoy nature, recreation, and wellness opportunities, inclusive of language or communication ability."

The Nonverbal Communication Sheets are an innovative tool ensuring that all visitors, including those with limited verbal communication abilities, can engage with park services and facilities effectively. These sheets use universally understood symbols and visuals to help visitors convey their needs and access resources, making park visits more enjoyable for everyone.

The Park Destinations Booklets are a comprehensive resource for exploring Palm Beach County's county-operated park system. These booklets are available in multiple languages, ensuring that visitors can easily navigate and enjoy the parks. Each booklet offers detailed information on park amenities, activities, and accessible facilities.
