Occident reaffirms its commitment to sport and tennis by sponsoring the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell - 73rd edition of the Trofeo Conde de Godó, held between 11 and 19 April at the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona.
The latest edition of the tournament comes with important new additions that reinforce its position within the international circuit. Among them is the reduction of the main pool to 32 players, in line with the predominant format in ATP 500 tournaments, allowing for more competitive matches from the start of the competition. Some of the biggest names on the circuit, such as Carlos Alcaraz, Félix Auger-Aliassime, Alex de Minaur and Casper Ruud, are expected to participate.
Presence of Occident at the tournament
As in previous editions, Occident will have a prominent presence at the tournament venue itself. The company will once again lend its name to the Fan Corner by Occident, a space designed to offer experiences and activities to fans during the days of the event.
In addition, the insurer will have its own stand in the hospitality area and will enjoy visibility on strategic displays located on the Rafa Nadal and Andrés Gimeno courts, two of the tournament's main venues.
Among the initiatives aimed at the public, Occident has also launched a prize draw on its Instagram page that allows fans to win 3 pairs of tickets to experience the tournament in a special way. Winners will enjoy a comprehensive experience that includes access to the day's matches, entry to the hospitality area and a voucher to sample the food and drink on offer within the venue.
An enhanced experience for fans
The 2026 edition will also mark the start of a transformation process for the tournament, with the aim of further strengthening its competitiveness within the ATP Tour and improving the overall fan experience.
To this end, the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell will debut Fan Week, extending the tournament experience to two full weeks. Among the activities being organised, on Thursday 9 April, the Opening Night will be held, a day of tennis and charity with the backing of Fundación Occident. This event will include the Nations Cup, a match featuring historic players, and a Charity Dinner. The proceeds from both events will go to the Barcelona Tennis Foundation's Solidarity School.
Another major new feature of this edition is the launch of the tournament's first night session, which will be held on the Thursday of the week of competition (16 April) with a star match on the centre court. The tournament will be complemented by a special offering in the Fan Zone, with live music and an expanded gastronomic menu.
The Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell also maintains its commitment to sustainability through measures such as reducing the use of single-use plastics, improving water and waste management, promoting sustainable mobility, and using green energy and LED lighting.
