The City is expediting permitting for affordable housing projects that qualify for permit review under Ordinance 7414. Starting this summer, city staff will now conduct design review for qualifying affordable housing projects. The code requirements related to design review remain the same, but the design review process will be shortened by replacing the Design Review Board with staff level review. This will allow Land Use Review to run on a faster timeline as it will avoid the longer review timeline for Board level review due to additional meeting notices, staff reports, and scheduling of public meetings.
