Nominations now open for 2026 Honouring Service Anzac program - Randwick City Council

Randwick City Council is calling for nominations for the 2026 Honouring Service program, which recognises local servicemen and women for their exemplary service to Australia.

The Honouring Service program celebrates past and present defence force personnel with a strong connection to Randwick City. Selected individuals will be honoured with their names and images displayed on street banners across beaches and town centres in the lead up to Anzac Day 2026.

Mayor Dylan Parker said the program is a powerful way to acknowledge the real people behind the uniforms.

"These banners remind us of the sacrifices and commitment made by members of our own community. It's a privilege for council to help share their stories and ensure their service is never forgotten. I encourage everyone to consider nominating a local serviceman or woman for this special recognition," Mayor Parker said.

The program was run for the first time in 2025 and recognised a number of individuals including Sergeant Albert Victor Tuck from Malabar who was killed in combat at Gallipoli in 1915, Sister Edith Blake from Little Bay who served as a nurse and died on the HM Hospital Ship Glenart Castle in 1918 and Squadron Leader Danny Jeffery from Maroubra who served for 35 years in the Air Force and now supports veterans advocating for mental health awareness.

How to nominate

• Nominations are open from 11 November 2025 and close on 31 January 2026.
• Anyone in the community can nominate, but each nominator or nominating organisation, is limited to two nominations per year.
• Nominees must be current or former defence force personnel, or have had significant involvement in conflict or peacekeeping campaigns, with a strong connection to Randwick City.
• Nominations must be endorsed by a local RSL sub-branch or defence force, and include a high-resolution image suitable for printing on a street banner.
• The nominee, if alive, must consent to the nomination.

Nominations are reviewed by the Anzac Trust and endorsed by Randwick Council in February. A limited number of individuals will be selected for recognition each year, reflecting the diversity and exemplary service of defence personnel across the Army, Navy and Air Force.

Recipients and their nominators will also be recognised at Randwick City Council's annual Anzac Civic Reception in April.
