Groundbreaking for new National Casting Center Foundry set for Thursday

Alfred University will break ground for the new National Casting Center Foundry of the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University on Thursday, May 15, at 5:00 p.m. in Bartlett Gardens, adjacent to Jordan Hall.

The public is invited to attend the event, which will include remarks from distinguished speakers and a metal pour demonstration. To RSVP, call the Office of Alumni Engagement at 607-871-2144.

The new foundry will provide state-of-the-art facilities for metal casting, welding, forging, and 3D printing for metal casting. It will serve as a hub for hands-on learning and research, fostering creativity and interdisciplinary collaboration between art and engineering students.

The expanded National Casting Center will enhance existing facilities, offering more opportunities for students to engage in personalized research and experimentation in a cutting-edge environment. Construction is schedule to be completed in 2026.
