On 30 April 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a telephone conversation with H.E. Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Both sides discussed ways to promote bilateral relations between Thailand and Tajikistan, particularly in the areas of economic cooperation, tourism, people-to-people contacts, and the plan to convene the first Bilateral Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries. They also explored ways to further enhance cooperation within multilateral frameworks and exchanged views on the ongoing situation in the Middle East, as well as cooperation between Thailand and Tajikistan on the possibility to facilitate the safe passage of essential Thai cargo vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.
