MTA Weekender: Memorial Day Weekend 2026

Happy Friday, and welcome to the unofficial first weekend of summer! (You wouldn't know it by looking at the temperature, alas.)

Because it's a holiday weekend, there are some service changes on Memorial Day itself:

  • The subway and buses will run on a Sunday schedule.
  • Some weekend service changes continue through Monday; read on for more details.

This weekend also marks the beginning of our extended summer weekend Rockaway Park Shuttle service to Rockaway Blvd, where you can transfer to or from any train.

And, a heads up for our riders: this weekend through Monday morning, trains aren't running between 74 St-Broadway and 34 St-Hudson Yards. On Monday morning, changes to train stops in Queens begin. Most of these changes will continue through 2027 to facilitate station renewals along the . For more details, check Planned Service Changes.

Here's what else is happening this weekend (also viewable as a map):

  • trains aren't running between Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and Brooklyn.
  • trains aren't running between Grand Central-42 St and Bowling Green.
  • trains aren't running between 74 St-Broadway and 34 St-Hudson Yards.
  • trains aren't running between Broadway Junction and Marcy Av.
  • trains aren't running at all.

Major subway service changes

trains, Brooklyn and Manhattan

From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Tuesday:

  • trains aren't running between Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and Crown Hts-Utica Av or New Lots Av.
    • trains are running between Woodlawn and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall, and local in Manhattan.
  • trains aren't running between Grand Central-42 St and Bowling Green.
    • During the day and evening, trains are running between Eastchester-Dyre Av and Grand Central-42 St, every 12 minutes.
  • trains are running every 8 minutes during the day and evening.

This is because of track replacement.

  • For service between Grand Central-42 St and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall, take the .
  • For service to/from Fulton St, Wall St, and Bowling Green, use nearby or stations.
  • For direct service between Manhattan and Brooklyn, take trains.
  • For service between Borough Hall and Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College, take trains.
  • For service between Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College and Crown Hts-Utica Av, take the .
  • For service between Crown Hts-Utica Av and New Lots Av, take the , which is running to/from New Lots Av.

trains, Manhattan and Queens

From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 10:30 a.m. Monday:

  • trains aren't running between 74 St-Broadway and 34 St-Hudson Yards.
  • Flushing-bound trains are running express from 74 St-Broadway to Mets-Willets Point.
    • At Junction Blvd, all trains are stopping at the Manhattan-bound platform.

This is because of station work.

  • For service between 74 St-Broadway and 34 St-Hudson Yards, take free shuttle buses, which are running along three routes:
    • T320 between 74 St-Broadway and Queensboro Plaza, making local stops.
    • T323 between Queensboro Plaza and Vernon Blvd-Jackson Av, making local stops.
    • T260 overnight in Manhattan between Times Sq-42 St and 34 St-Hudson Yards.
  • For service between Queens and Manhattan, take trains.
  • The LIRR is accommodating subway riders traveling between Queens and Manhattan at no additional cost at Flushing, Mets-Willets Point, Woodside, Grand Central Madison, and Penn Station.
  • When exiting the subway at Queensboro Plaza or Court Sq, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.
  • 42 St Shuttle​ trains are running all weekend, including overnight.
  • For service between 74 St-Broadway and Mets-Willets Point, take a 74 St-bound train.

trains, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens

From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Tuesday:

  • trains aren't running between Broadway Junction and Marcy Av, and are running in two sections:
    • Between Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer and Broadway Junction.
    • Between Marcy Av and Broad St.
  • trains aren't running.

This is because of structural work.

  • For service between Middle Village-Metropolitan Av and Marcy Av, take free B107 shuttle buses, which are making all stops.
  • For service between Broadway Junction and Marcy Av, take free T433 shuttle buses, which are making all stops.
  • For service between Marcy Av and Delancey St-Essex St, take the .
  • When exiting the subway at Broadway Junction, Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs, Myrtle Av, and Marcy Av, get a GO Ticket from a station agent to re-enter.

Other subway service changes

Several trains are skipping stops in one direction from Friday night to early Tuesday morning, unless otherwise specified. For service to/from skipped stops, take a train going the opposite direction.

  • South Ferry-bound trains are running nonstop from 145 St to 96 St.
  • All trains are stopping at the Manhattan-bound platform at 3 Av-149 St on Sunday from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m.
    • trains are running every 15 minutes starting at 7:45 a.m.
    • trains are running between Eastchester-Dyre Av and E 180 St during this time. service to Bowling Green will start at 10 a.m. on Sunday. Take a train for service in Manhattan.
  • Manhattan-bound trains are running express from Parkchester to 3 Av-138 St.
    • During the day and evening, the last stop for alternate trains toward Pelham Bay Park is 3 Av-138 St. Transfer to a Pelham Bay Park-bound train to continue your trip. Pelham Bay Park-bound trains are running every 16 minutes during the day and evening.
  • Norwood-bound trains are not stopping at 155 St.
    • At 145 St, all trains are stopping at the downtown platform.
  • Manhattan-bound trains are running nonstop from Kings Hwy to 18 Av from 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Monday.
    • At 18 Av, all trains are boarding from the Coney Island-bound platform.
