Washington and Lee University women's basketball player Mary Schleusner '26 was recently named the NCAA Division III Player of the Year by D3Hoops.com. She also received First Team All-America honors from the website.

Schleusner is the first player in program history to be named the country's top player, also collecting her third straight All-America honor from the organization. Additionally, she was named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Coaches First Team All-America squad after helping lead the Generals to a 31-1 overall record and a trip to the "Elite Eight" of the NCAA Division III Tournament.

The D3Hoops.com recognition adds to a lengthy list of awards she has already received this season, including Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Player and Defensive Player of the Year honors, as well as First Team All-ODAC, D3hoops.com First Team All-Region and Region 6 Player of the Year laurels. She was also named a finalist for the Jostens Trophy, which is presented to the outstanding men's and women's Division III basketball players of the year.

Schleusner led W&L this season with averages of 21.2 points and 17.0 rebounds per game while posting a team-high 66 blocks and 63 steals. She recorded a double-double in 29 of her 30 games played, which led all NCAA divisions. She also led Division III in rebounds (528) while ranking second in field goals (261), points (657), and defensive rebounds per game (11.3).

Earlier this year, the Charlotte, North Carolina native became the Division III all-time leading rebounder (1,992) and career leader in double-doubles (97). She also ranks seventh in career points (2,483) and seventh in career rebounding average (16.3).
