At about 7:07 p.m. on Jan. 14, Columbia Police attempted a traffic stop near the intersection of Range Line Street and Interstate 70 on a 2019 Toyota Yaris. Officers attempted the stop for felony driving without a license, a stop sign violation, and suspicion of drug activity. The vehicle failed to stop for officers and fled east on Interstate 70.
Officers pursued the vehicle, but terminated the pursuit near the Route 63 Connector. Another officer spotted and pursued the suspect. Thesuspect collided with a 2013 Ford F-150 near Trimble Road and Brickston Road. The suspect fled on foot and attempted to steal another car, but was arrested by officers.
Two people, the suspect and their passenger, were transported to the local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries related to the crash. The driver of the Ford F-150 suffered minor injuries and did not go to the hospital.
Pending charges for the suspect include felony no operator's license, stop sign violation, aggravated fleeing, attempted vehicle theft, resisting, kidnapping and felony leaving the scene.
