WHAT: The Tennessee Outdoor Partnership (TOP) will host the second annual Tennessee Outdoors Day on the Hill on Tuesday, March 24. Media are invited to attend an outdoor expo celebrating the state's thriving outdoor recreation industry and the vital role it plays in strengthening Tennessee's economy while enhancing quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
Tennessee ranks No. 1 in the Southeast and No. 2 in the nation for 10-year GDP growth in the outdoor recreation sector. In 2024, the industry generated $15.6 billion for the state's economy, ranking 4th in the Southeast. Outdoor recreation is an economic powerhouse statewide, impacting all three grand divisions and supporting over 114,000 jobs across sectors such as outfitters, guides, retailers, lodging, restaurants, event operators, and small businesses.
With America's most visited national park, 62 state parks, 14 Bill Dance Signature Lakes, more than 100 wildlife management areas, and over 80 natural areas, Tennessee offers unmatched opportunities for outdoor recreation. The state also features more than 100 caves and caverns and is home to the Duck River, North America's most biodiverse river, providing residents and visitors countless opportunities to experience Tennessee's unparalleled natural beauty and outdoor adventure.
