Spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmaeil Baqaei, categorically dismissed the recent remarks by the French President regarding the Islamic Republic of Iran, describing them as baselss, contradictory, and diversionary.
Baqaei called on France to reconsider its unconstructive approaches toward peace and stability in the West Asia region.
The spokesperson emphasized that the immediate and genuine threat to regional peace and stability is the Israeli occupying regime. He said: "With full support from the United States and certain European countries, including France, Israel continues its occupation and genocide in occupied Palestine while persistently expanding its military aggression and territorial ambitions across the region."
Baqaei expressed deep regret that the French President, instead of holding accountable a genocidal and apartheid regime whose leaders are under investigation by the International Criminal Court, chooses to point baseless accusations at a country that has consistently championed peace and adherence to the principles of international law.
Baqaei also rejected the French President's claims regarding Iran's nuclear program. He reaffirmed that Iran's peaceful nuclear activities are conducted in full compliance with international regulations and under the strict and ongoing oversight of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
He described these allegations as unfounded and hypocritical, particularly coming from a government that has failed to fulfill its own commitments under the JCPOA while playing a key role in enabling a genocidal regime to acquire nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction.
Regarding the repeated allegation of Iranian involvement in the Ukraine conflict, Baqaei reiterated Iran's consistent and principled stance advocating for a peaceful resolution to the crisis.
He firmly rejected these unfounded accusations, labeling them as irresponsible distortions of reality intended to obscure the destructive roles of key actors in global crises.
Expressing astonishment and regret over the French President's purported concerns about Iran's engagement with African countries, Baqaei stated: "Countries with a history of brutal colonialism in Africa are in no position to dictate terms to independent African nations or other sovereign states."
He stressed that Iran's relations with African countries are grounded in mutual respect and a commitment to their national sovereignty and political independence.
Baqaei noted that these relations are based on the Principles of International Law Concerning Friendly Relations and Cooperation Among States in Accordance with the Charter of the United Nations, aimed at achieving shared benefits and mutual interests.
