The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, met with the President of the European Council, António Costa, at the Moncloa Palace as part of the tour of European capitals that the latter is undertaking to learn about the priorities of the different leaders of the European Union for the coming months. The two discussed the political, economic, international and social agenda for the coming months and exchanged perspectives on the most important issues.
The EU must act consistently, upholding international law in Ukraine and Gaza, and be able to translate our shared values into action.
He also conveyed the importance of acting on the social issues that most concern citizens, such as access to housing.
Faced with the record number of fires in Southern Europe this summer, the President stressed the urgent need to make decisive progress on the green agenda and to invest together in climate security.
Finally, they addressed the need for an open and prosperous Europe, capable of reaching trade agreements, as is the case with Mercosur, taking advantage of the opportunities for the benefit of European companies and citizens.
