Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz took part in this year's World Economic Forum in Davos. In addition to a speech delivered during a plenary session, he took the opportunity to exchange ideas with numerous business representatives from around the world.
Peace and security: Scholz stressed that "clarity and stability" were key, in particular in matters of peace and security. He added that the inviolability of borders applied everywhere and at all times, and that President Putin could therefore not succeed with the aggressive war he had unleashed against Ukraine.
German-American partnership: The United States are Germany's most important ally outside Europe. Federal Chancellor Scholz: "I will do everything to make sure that this remains true." Scholz said that close cooperation between Europe and the USA was essential to safeguarding peace and security, as well as being the driver of successful economic development.
A strong Europe: Scholz stressed that Europeans had to become more competitive and resilient themselves, for example through joint defence projects. He added that Germany would be defending free trade as the basis of prosperity, including in cooperation with other partners.
