North Carolina State Treasurer Brad Briner announced today that Loretta Boniti will join the Department of State Treasurer as the Director of Strategic Communications and Media Relations. Loretta joins the Department from Spectrum News 1, where she served as a political anchor and senior political reporter.
"Loretta has earned a reputation as a nonpartisan communicator who excels at getting clear and concise information to the public," said Treasurer Briner. "I am very excited for her to join the team and use her skills to serve as a conduit between the Department and the people of North Carolina on issues important to their daily lives."
Loretta has over 25 years of experience as an award-winning journalist. She launched and hosted a weekly, statewide public affairs program called "In Focus with Loretta Boniti," which covered a range of topics in government, policy and other issues affecting people across the state. She has served as the president of the Capital Press Corps and won numerous statewide reporting awards. She previously worked as a political journalist in Virginia, where she was president of the capital correspondents, and in Georgia, where she was an anchor, reporter and news director.
