The original 911 call that came in at approximately 6:03 p.m., a caller stated that she was threatened with a gun, then hung up. After securing the area, Officers made numerous attempts to connect with the original caller and the other occupant of the apartment, which they identified as a man who had multiple warrants for his arrest. Despite significant efforts, officers were unable to get a response from the apartment.
At 9:27 p.m., SERT and CNT were activated and responded to the scene to bring in additional personnel, expertise, training, and equipment. Over the next several hours, SERT and CNT made extensive efforts to determine whether anyone needed help and whether a crime had occurred. Phone calls and loudspeaker announcements went unanswered.
At 12:28 p.m., PPB officers breached the door and two occupants were found inside, the male and an adult female. Initial reports are that no one was seriously injured.
The Special Victims Unit (SVU) is investigating the incident. SERT and CNT personnel are packing their equipment and the Old Town streets will be opening soon.
The shelter in place all-clear was sent and residents were released to return to their apartments.

Portland Police Tactical Teams are responding to the Old Town Neighborhood on a report of a disturbance with a gun inside an apartment. Several area streets around Northwest 6th Avenue and Northwest Everett Street are closed.
On Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 6:03 p.m., Portland Police Officers assigned to Central Precinct responded to a report of a disturbance inside an apartment in the 300 block of Northwest 6th Avenue. They learned that a gun may be involved. Officers surrounded the area and made significant efforts to contact the occupants of the apartment, but so far no one has responded.
The Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) were activated to bring in additional personnel, expertise, training, and equipment.
Residents of the building have been notified via the PublicAlerts system to shelter in place with doors locked. At least one apartment has been evacuated by officers and officers may ask other residents to evacuate for their safety.
The area is closed including Northwest Glisan Street to Northwest Davis Street, Northwest Broadway to Northwest 5th Avenue. Additional updates will be released via this channel.
