Governor Joe Lombardo Welcomes Nevada Educators Back to School

CARSON CITY, Nev. - Governor Joe Lombardo sent a letter to Nevada's teachers, administrators, and school staff today welcoming them back for the 2026-2027 school year and reaffirming his commitment to supporting educators and improving educational outcomes for Nevada students.

"Your dedication, compassion, and hard work shape the future of our state every single day," said Governor Lombardo. "Let this new year be defined by growth, curiosity, and everlasting impacts on the lives of your students."

The Governor highlighted his administration's work over the summer to reduce burdensome reporting requirements for schools and educators in partnership with State Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. Victor Wakefield and the Education Service Center. He also pointed to his administration's record of supporting Nevada's educators, including the $250 million in educator pay raises approved in 2023 and made permanent in 2025, which extended those increases to charter school educators.

"This year, I look forward to continuing our partnership as we pursue meaningful policy changes that strengthen student achievement and make it easier for teachers to do what they do best-teach," Governor Lombardo wrote. "Your experience in the classroom and in our schools is invaluable."

The Governor encouraged educators to work collaboratively with his administration as Nevada continues pursuing policies that strengthen the state's education system and improve opportunities for students.

"Together, we can make the 2026-2027 school year a successful one for Nevada's students, educators, and communities," Governor Lombardo wrote.
