Author David Baldacci to Host Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and Book Signing at the Grand Opening at 10AM on Wednesday, June 18th, 2025
McLean, VA - June 11, 2025 - Barnes & Noble is thrilled to announce the return of the bookseller to Tysons Corner Center in McLean, VA. The new bookstore opens on Wednesday, June 18th. Barnes & Noble had closed its old store at Tysons Corner in May of last year. The new space is located on the first floor in the heart of Tysons Corner Center (1961 Chain Bridge Rd, Tysons, VA 22102) across from H&M.
The new Barnes & Noble will officially open to the public at 10AM ET on Wednesday the 18th, with bestselling author David Baldacci cutting the ribbon and signing copies of his books, including his newest release, Strangers in Time. David Baldacci is one of the world's most successful authors, with sales of over a staggering 150 million copies.
The new bookstore showcases the highly lauded design seen in the most recent Barnes & Noble store openings. Although the new store is smaller than the old one, it has almost the same number of bookcases. Customers can be certain to find the wide selection of all the best books, toys, games and gifts that they have come to expect from the nation's premier bookseller. The bookstore will also house an updated B&N Café.
"We are very pleased to return to the Tyson's Corner Center where we have proudly served readers for nearly 20 years," said James Daunt, CEO of Barnes & Noble. "Our McLean booksellers are excited to be back and are especially pleased to welcome customers into such a unique and beautifully designed Barnes & Noble."
Barnes & Noble is enjoying a period of tremendous growth as the strategy to hand control of each bookstore to its local booksellers has proven so successful. The bookseller is experiencing strong sales in its existing stores and has been opening many new stores after more than 15 years of declining store numbers. In 2024, Barnes & Noble opened more new bookstores in a single year than it had in the whole decade from 2009 to 2019. The bookseller expects to open over 60 new bookstores in 2025.
The Tysons Corner location is one of three new Barnes & Noble bookstores set to open in June, alongside new stores in Arizona and Connecticut. Each grand opening has drawn enthusiastic crowds that wrap around the building, filling the store as the ribbon is cut.
"I am excited to bring Barnes & Noble back to Tysons Corner Center and the McLean community," said Store Manager Mike Doliani, longtime Barnes & Noble Bookseller. "We are bringing an exceptional bookstore in one of America's great stand-out malls!"
