WHAT: "Come Sail Away"
WHEN: 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 3, 2025
WHERE: John and Alice Butler Hall, Heritage Center, University of Dubuque
TICKETS:

Featuring the Dubuque Community String Orchestra with UD's String Ensemble, "Come Sail Away" will perform music from Russia, Scotland, Italy, Greece, and more! The concert will be conducted by Tracey Rush, MM, adjunct instructor of music at UD and founder of the Dubuque Community String Orchestra.

"Come Sail Away" will honor Rush's sister, Mary Ryan, who passed away in June.

"Mary was a travel agent by vocation and an artist by avocation, Rush said. "As a tribute to her, we will perform music from some of her favorite countries, and her painting of an Egyptian boat on the Nile is being incorporated into the program."

The concert will showcase the talents of two soloists: percussionist Braeden Collins, a senior aviation management and music double major from Madison, Indiana, and violinist Kara Tann, MAEd, a member of the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra.

"It's important to me to give the musicians the experience of playing standard repertoire as well as introducing them to lesser-known works and composers. The same goes for the audience," Rush said.

"Come Sail Away" is free and open to the public. No ticket is required.
