Pollinators like this species of bumblebee, Bombus perplexus, are an important part of backyard ecosystems.

An Anchorage entomologist will delve into how to recognize common bees and other Alaska pollinators in a free virtual talk with the Valley Garden Club.

Alex Wenninger is a University of Alaska Fairbanks integrated pest management technician with the Cooperative Extension Service. She will cover ways to attract pollinators and how to be a good pollinator steward in your own garden by planting for pollinators and managing invasive plants. She will also discuss the nesting habits of native bees.

The talk is from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, via Zoom. Register using the online formor visit https://bit.ly/PollinatorTalk.
