Larson Statement on the Anniversary of the October 7th Attacks

East Hartford, CT - Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) released the following statement on the one-year anniversary of Hamas's terrorist attack on Israel, where 1,195 people were killed and 251 were taken hostage, including 101 who remain in captivity today.

"The October 7th attack was the deadliest day for the Jewish people since the Holocaust. 1,195 people were brutally murdered by Hamas, including 14 American citizens," said Larson. "The United States stands with the people of Israel and remains committed to their security as they continue to face threats. Additionally, over the last year, Jewish and Muslim people have faced a staggering rise in antisemitism and Islamophobia. No one deserves to live in fear because of their faith or ethnicity. The people of Israel and Gaza should be able to live their lives freed from the threat of terrorism and hate. I stand with President Biden, the hundreds of thousands of Israeli citizens, and the families of hostages held in Gaza, including former Connecticut resident Jonathan Dekel-Chen, who are demanding their safe return and calling for this war to come to an end."
