After nearly a decade of careful preservation work, the historic hand-built redwood main house, guesthouse, and workshop roofs of one of Southern California's most treasured Arts and Crafts landmarks, the Sam and Alfreda Maloof residence, have been restored.
The Maloof Foundation recently brought together local residents, city officials, and Foundation members for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the successful completion of the project. Architects Michelle Sandoval Marcinek and Tanya Chaijenkit, key members of the project team, were invited to participate in a panel discussion about the years-long effort.
Since 2018, WJE has served as the roofing consultant for this National-Register-listed compound, performing roof surveys, providing grant application support, developing construction documents, and providing construction administration services.
Rancho Cucamonga Mayor Dennis Michael presided over the event and thanked WJE for our commitment to restoring the historic property. This milestone marks the completion of critical preservation work and helps ensure the Maloof legacy endures for generations to come.
