What To Know Before You Fly Starting May 7

Posted April 30, 2025

A REAL ID will be required for travel starting May 7 - make sure you're ready to fly.

Beginning May 7, 2025, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will require a REAL ID-compliant form of identification to board domestic flights. If you have a flight booked, now is the time to prepare so your getaway stays easy.

What is a REAL ID?
A REAL ID is a federally accepted form of identification that has specific security features. If you don't have a REAL ID, you'll need another approved form of ID, like a U.S. passport, to fly.

How To Get a REAL ID
Visit a Department of Motor Vehicles location in your state with the required documentation. For example, you'll need proof of identity (i.e. your current driver's license), your Social Security card and two proofs of your residence address. Check with your DMV for specific details.

Plan Ahead. Fly Easy.
Avoid last-minute surprises and additional screening at security checkpoints by being prepared. Make sure your ID is REAL ID compliant before May 7, 2025.
