Federal, provincial, and municipal leaders welcome guests to Get Ready in the Park

Media are invited to Get Ready in the Park: a free, family-friendly event held every May in recognition of Canada's Emergency Preparedness Week.

The Honourable Eleanor Olszewski, Minister of Emergency Management, Community Resilience and Minister responsible for Prairies Economic Development Canada, and M.L.A. Brandon Lunty, representing the Deputy Premier and Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Services, will join Mayor Andrew Knack and Deputy Chief Graeme McAlister to highlight the event and recognition week. Together, they will discuss the vital importance of personal preparedness and showcase the wide array of emergency resources available to Edmontonians.

Date: Saturday, May 9
Time: 1 p.m.
Location: Edmonton EXPO Centre Grounds (South of the EXPO Centre, 7515 118 Ave NW)
Photo Opportunity: Numerous emergency vehicles and equipment demonstrations, as well as interactive activities with search-and-rescue canines and more, can be captured.

News media have the opportunity to speak with Minister Olszewski, M.L.A. Lunty, Mayor Knack and Deputy Chief McAlister following the welcome.

Please note: A parking marshal will be on site to direct media to designated parking.

Get Ready in the Park is a free, come-and-go event that is open to the public from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
