Duckworth Meets with Union Workers from Quad Cities Tyson Foods Plant Ahead of Closure

[EAST MOLINE, IL] - U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) today met with union workers and local Quad City leaders to discuss the impacts of the closing of Tyson Foods' plant in Joslin, Illinois last month, which resulted in the loss of approximately 2,500 union jobs in the region. During the meeting, Duckworth reiterated her commitment to supporting these union workers during the transition and working to ensure they have the resources they need to return to the workforce. "The closing of the Tyson plant in Joslin left a ripple effect across our community, shutting down a key part of the local manufacturing industry, putting skilled workers out of a job and impacting families who already feel underwater," said Duckworth. "In the months ahead, we must ensure these workers receive the support and resources they need to reenter the workforce and recover."

"Two weeks ago, over 2,500 moms, dads, and grandparents who had built their families' lives around good union jobs saw their world turned upside down.
