Regents set fiscal year 2026 tuition and fee rates

The Kansas Board of Regents approved tuition and fee rates for the upcoming year at Pittsburg State University, as well as the state's other five universities, this week.

Pitt State's increase for tuition and fees will be $99.50 per semester for full-time undergraduate students.

"The Regents' strategic plan emphasizes affordability for Kansas families and success for students in our institutions," said KBOR Chair Carl Ice. "These tuition rates balance those priorities by keeping costs as low as possible while ensuring that state universities can continue to help students succeed in the classroom and in their careers after graduation."

Affordability remains a top priority at Pitt State. Tuition increases have averaged under 2 percent for the last seven years. The university offers flat-rate tuition, which means students may take as many hours as they wish for the same flat rate, and in-state undergraduate tuition for 32 states.

In 2024, the university announced the Great Gorilla scholarship program, offering four-year awards up to $4,000 per year in aid based on GPA or ACT score.

At the same time, Pitt State and other state universities have improved student success outcomes while increasing the amount of student financial aid. On-time graduation rates have increased 10.2 percentage points in the last five years. Entry level wages for state university graduates have increased more than 15 percent since 2020, and the total amount of need-based aid grants and scholarships has grown by 28 percent.

Pitt State was recently designated an Opportunity College & University by the Carnegie Foundation, earning their Access & Earnings Classification. This is given only to universities with high access rates and significantly higher earnings for graduates (vs. non-graduates) in their regions.

"All increases go back into the support and services that enable our students be successful and graduate," said Interim President Doug Ball. "We remain affordable while helping students get the most value out of their experience at Pitt State, and then bring that value into our state and region."
