Gilbert Town Council Approves Budget to Advance Infrastructure and Public Safety

Gilbert, Ariz. - Gilbert is taking bold steps toward a brighter future with the approval of its latest budget, ensuring continued investment in infrastructure, sustainability, and public safety. The decisions made today are focused on keeping Gilbert a great place to live, work, and connect.

Building a Thriving Community

Over the past year, Gilbert has transformed key public spaces, enhancing the community's quality of life. The revitalized Water Tower Plaza now offers shaded areas, improved lighting, and an upgraded splash pad, making downtown more inviting. The Gilbert Advocacy Center is officially underway, providing a safe haven for crime victims, reinforcing the town's commitment to supporting those in need. Sustainability efforts continue to gain momentum, with more than 60 tons of glass recycled at five newly established drop-off locations.

Fiscal Responsibility & Long-Term Savings

Gilbert remains steadfast in its commitment to financial stewardship, ensuring that taxpayers benefit from proactive fiscal management. By paying off the University Building debt two decades ahead of schedule, the town has saved residents over $15 million in interest, securing long-term financial stability and reducing future costs.

Exciting New Projects on the Horizon

Looking ahead, Gilbert is launching a range of dynamic projects that will enhance recreational opportunities and community spaces. The highly anticipated pickleball complex and splash pad at Freestone Park will break ground in summer 2026, offering residents new ways to stay active. Expansions at Gilbert Regional Park and Desert Sky Park are also set to begin by spring 2026, providing fresh gathering spaces for residents to enjoy.

Strengthening Public Safety

Ensuring a safe community remains a top priority for Gilbert. Plans are underway for the next phases of the Gilbert Advocacy Center, expanding its support services for crime victims and bolstering investigative capabilities. In addition, the town will add 25 new police positions and seven roles in Fire & Rescue, ensuring first responders have the resources they need to protect and serve.

Through thoughtful investment in infrastructure, sustainability, and financial stewardship, Gilbert continues to build a future that reflects the values and priorities of its residents. This vision is made possible by the unwavering support of the community, reaffirming the town's dedication to enhancing quality of life for all.
