On April 7-9, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission (HR/VP), Kaja Kallas, will travel to Montenegro, Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina on her first visit to the Western Balkans.
In Montenegro, High Representative Kallas will meet with President Jakov Milatović and Prime Minister Milojko Spajić. She will engage with civil society organizations and participate in a review of European Peace Facility-funded equipment with the Minister of Defence. A joint press conference with Prime Minister Spajić is scheduled for 10:40 AM and will be livestreamed on EBS.
In Albania, High Representative Kallas will meet with President Bajram Begaj and Prime Minister Edi Rama. A joint press conference with Prime Minister Rama is scheduled for April 8 at 10:25 AM, livestreamed on EBS.
High Representative Kallas will also meet with the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, and the Minister of Defence, Pirro Vengu.
She will jointly open the first EU-Albania Security Dialogue with Ministers Hasani and Vengu. Additionally, she will attend the signing of the European Investment Bank's grant and loan agreements for the development of the Durrës to Rrogozhinë railway. High Representative Kallas will also address university students and civil society representatives.
In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the High Representative will visit EUFOR Althea troops and meet with members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, including Council of Ministers Chairwoman Borjana Krišto and Foreign Minister Elmedin Konaković. A joint press encounter with the Presidency is scheduled for April 8 (timing to be announced).
