AUGUSTA, Ga. | Georgia College & State University outfielder Evan Cowan has been named the Peach Belt Conference Baseball Player of the Week ending April 26.
Cowan, a senior from Richmond Hill, Georgia, helped the Bobcats to a 4-0 record last weekend, including a Peach Belt series sweep of Claflin University as the Bobcats locked up the No. 7 seed in this week's PBC Tournament.
As leadoff hitter, Cowan, who was also named the Zaxbys Player of the Week, had a .714 batting average (10-of-14) with two doubles, a triple and three RBI. Cowan also scored 11 runs while recording five stolen bases. He slugged 1.000 for the week and had a .722 on-base percentage.
Cowan is seventh in NCAA Division II in batting average (.447), sixth in hits per game (1.78), ninth in hits (80) and 34th in on-base percentage (.528).
GCSU will return to action Friday (May 1) at 4 p.m. when they face Lander University in the first round of the Peach Belt Tournament in Greenwood, South Carolina.
