SCO Secretary General Takes Part in the 8th International Silk Road Exhibition

On 20 September 2024, SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming took part in the 8th International Silk Road Exhibition and the China East-West Cooperation, Investment and Trade Fair, organised by the People's Government of Shaanxi Province, in Xi'an. The theme of the exhibition was "Deepening Interrelations, Expanding Trade and Economic Cooperation."

In his remarks, Zhang Ming spoke about the main areas and achievements of the SCO member states in the economy and trade and noted the role of China and the Shaanxi Province in promoting trade, economic, and interregional cooperation in the SCO space. The Secretary General indicated the SCO's readiness to further promote cooperation with countries along the Silk Road, which meets the interests of their peoples and the needs of their economies.

The exhibition's opening ceremony was also attended by Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China Shohrat Zakir, who also delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Bakyt Torobayev, heads of international organisations and other representatives of diplomatic and business circles.

Zhang Ming also met with Governor of Shaanxi Province Zhao Gang on the sidelines of the exhibition.
