CenterPoint Energy Continues Monitoring Weather Conditions and Prepares Readiness Actions as Gulf System Becomes Tropical Storm Isaias

Customers urged to sign up for Power Alert Service® to get latest updates about their service and review safety plans

HOUSTON - October 5, 2026 - While continuing to take precautionary safety and readiness actions to support its customers along the Texas Gulf Coast, CenterPoint Energy's Meteorology, Emergency Planning & Response, Gas and Electric Operations teams remain vigilant as they track Tropical Storm Isaias in the Southwestern Gulf of America. As of 4:00 a.m. today, the National Hurricane Center, named the Gulf system Tropical Storm Isaias. Current models forecast a potential landfall between Eastern Louisiana and the western edge of the Florida Panhandle later in the week. Currently, there are no anticipated impacts to the Texas Gulf Coast and Greater Houston area. CenterPoint urges all customers to register to receive important service-related updates via text, email, or phone call through Power Alert Service®.

"CenterPoint's meteorology team continues to monitor newly named Tropical Storm Isaias as it continues to strengthen and move northeastward in the Gulf. Based on the latest data and forecast, no direct impacts are expected for the Greater Houston area," said Marco Monreal, CenterPoint's Lead Meteorologist. "While we are not expecting impacts, our teams are taking action and reviewing readiness plans, and we encourage all customers across southeast Texas to stay weather aware."

If the risk of landfall changes for CenterPoint Energy customers, CenterPoint will activate its Emergency Operations Center and position additional frontline workers in strategic locations to be ready to support customers.

As part of its storm preparedness efforts, CenterPoint is taking the following actions:

  • Readying the company's response plans and resources: Frontline personnel will be ready to support potential restoration efforts.
  • Monitoring Tropical Storm Isaias 24/7: The Meteorology team continues to track weather forecast developments, and the company is updating response efforts as conditions evolve.
