History, Hauntings Return to Old County Courthouse
Paranormal Researcher Brian Cano Hosts Workshop Alongside County Staff
FONDA-After the overwhelming success of last year's "An Evening of History and Hauntings," Visit Montgomery County is once again inviting the public to explore the mysterious side of the Old County Courthouse with paranormal investigator Brian Cano.
The event will take place Sept. 27 inside the historic courthouse, 9 Park St. Fonda. Cano, known for his work on the Travel Channel's "Paranormal Caught on Camera," is guiding participants through an evening that blends local history with the paranormal. Guests will not only investigate the courthouse itself but will also learn techniques they can use to explore the history of their own homes. New this year, weather permitting, participants will also explore the neighboring County Annex.
Representatives from Montgomery County's History and Archives, Real Property and Personnel offices are returning to demonstrate how local records provide valuable insights into family histories and property research. Attendees will get a firsthand look at tax maps, property deeds and archival documents that help bring the region's past to life.
"Last year's event was a wonderful opportunity to engage a new audience in our history," Montgomery County Director of History and Archives Kelly Farquhar said. "We are thrilled to open our doors once again and share the resources available right here in our community."
"An Evening of History and Hauntings" is hosted by Visit Montgomery County, NY. The Old County Courthouse is a featured stop on the Haunted History Trail of New York State, which promotes tourism at historic sites.
