ICYMI: Bresnahan Announces $3 Million for Wallenpaupack Career and Technical Center

HAWLEY, PA: Last week, U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan, Jr. (PA-08) visited Wallenpaupack Area School District to announce he secured $3,000,000 in federal funding to put towards the construction of a Career and Technical Center (CTC) in Pike County. The new CTC will serve the Wallenpaupack Area School District and students in Wayne and Pike Counties.

"Our visit last week reinforced what I already knew: Career and Technical Education provides an essential, cost-effective pathway for students who want to pursue trade careers and build a future right here at home," said Rep. Bresnahan. "The $3 million for the Wayne & Pike CTC will play a critical role in advancing training programs and promoting real-world opportunities. I will always remain dedicated to advocating for programs that provide better access to vocational training and uplift the next generation of students."

"Until now, Wayne and Pike were the only counties in Pennsylvania without a dedicated Career Technical Center," said Wallenpaupack Area School District Superintendent Dr. Keith Gunuskey. "This project changes that. It will dramatically expand our ability to prepare students for successful, high-demand careers, and Rep. Bresnahan made this transformational investment possible. Our students already have the talent and the work ethic, and this center will give them the tools to build strong futures and strengthen our regional workforce for generations to come. I want to thank Rep. Bresnahan for securing these funds, and I'm excited to make this CTC a reality."

Earlier in the week, Dr. Gunuskey traveled to Washington, D.C. to speak as a witness at the House Committee on Small Business' hearing titled "Career and Technical Education: Developing the Future of Main Street Success". You can watch Rep. Bresnahan's line of questioning here. Dr. Gunuskey's opening remarks are available here, and Rep. Bresnahan's introduction of Dr. Gunuskey can be found here.

Rep. Bresnahan secured $3,000,000 for Pike County to construct a new state-of-the-art, 73,600 square feet educational facility providing career readiness educational programs. The facility will focus on careers in high-demand industries in a community not currently served by a CTC. Rep. Bresnahan secured the funding in the Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development Appropriations Act, 2026, which was signed into law on February 5, 2026.
