Final Night of Carquinez Bridge (I-80) Steel Weld Inspection & Plate Repairs

Contra Costa & Solano Counties - Caltrans has performed essential T1 Steel Weld Inspection Projects for weld inspections and repairs on three Bay Area Bridges, San Mateo-Hayward Bridge (SR-92), Benicia-Martinez Bridge (I-680) and Carquinez Bridge (I-80). This project began in Fall of 2023 and was critical to ensure the long-term safety and integrity of these important Bridges.

The final scheduled night for Steel Weld Inspection and plate repairs on the Carquinez Bridge eastbound I-80 in Crockett is Wednesday March 25, 2026; at 3:00 AM and will conclude at 1:00 PM.

The inspections of the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge (SR-92) and Benicia-Martinez Bridge (I-680)have been completed. Upon completion of this project, all three bridges will continue tomeet established safety requirements, ensuring that drivers and commuters can rely on thesevital crossings for safe travel throughout the region.

Carquinez Bridge eastbound I-80 Lane/Ramp Closure Details for Wednesday, March 25th 3:00 AM to 1:00 PM

  1. Full Closure: EB I-80 Onramp fromPomona St/San Pablo Ave
  2. Lane Closures: EB I-80 Lanes 3 and 4from Refinery Rd to Carquinez Toll Plaza
