There's something magical about sipping a coffee in Italy perhaps it's the sound of footsteps along its time-worn alleyways, the clink of cups at an outdoor café or the golden glow of marble and tile in every piazza.

Long before opening its first location in Italy in 2018, Starbucks drew inspiration from the craft and culture of Italian espresso. Starbucks founder Howard Schultz first visited the country's cafés in 1983. As the world turns its eyes to Italy this winter, Starbucks offers customers a blend of local charm and global flavor, inviting anyone passing through to pause, sip and enjoy the beauty of Italy's coffee tradition.

Let's explore some of the country's most beautiful coffeehouses.

Milan - Starbucks Reserve Roastery

Starbucks first location Italy is also its most extraordinary, the Starbucks Reserve® Roastery in Milan . Here, you can immerse in the world of coffee, watch Master Roasters roast the small-batch coffees Starbucks Reserve® at the Italian-made Scolari roaster and choose some beans from the scoop bar to bring home. Cap off your visit with a hot cappuccino at the (warm!) marble café counter or a pre-dinner Aperol Spritz apertivo at the Arriviamo Bar.

Rome - San Silvestro Piazza

There's an old saying that "all roads lead to Rome," so let's go next to Italy's capital and the Starbucks San Silvestro flagship near the picturesque San Silvestro Piazza - the perfect stop for an espresso after tossing a coin into Trevi Fountain.

Rome - Montecitorio

Just a few blocks away from San Silvestro is another beauty, Starbucks Rome Montecitorio . The spacious coffeehouse is in the historic center of the city near Italy's Parliament overlooking Piazza Montecitorio and within walking distance of several iconic landmarks, including the ancient Pantheon.

Bologna

The Starbucks Bologna is the perfect union of ancient and contemporary - with comfortable, modern seating and ornate floors and ceilings restored to their original splendor. The two-story coffeehouse opens onto the charming pedestrian street of Via d'Azeglio, winding through arcades filled with shops and street music and onto the grand central square of Piazza Maggiore.

Venice - Rialto

Venetian red is a warm, vibrant red pigment (derived from local mineral) that has been beloved by Renaissance painters and artists for centuries. The Starbucks coffeehouse at Venice Rialto - located just steps from the Grand Canal and St. Mark's Square on the bustling pedestrian Marzarieta Due Aprile - features this classic hue with Venetian red accents and brass furnishings with bespoke artwork inspired by the night sky.

Naples - Galleria Umberto I

The elegant, two-story Starbucks Naples Galleria Umberto I, is one of the largest in Italy, with soaring travertine marble columns under the glass vaults of one of the city's most iconic landmarks. Inside, the two-story space features dramatic chandeliers and comfortable lounge seating perfect for a friendly tete-a-tete.

Milan - Malpensa Airport T1

When it's time to go, you can find a comfortable spot to relax at the gate in Terminal One at Milano Malpensa T1 . A carved wood feature wall tells the story of Starbucks first store at Pike Place Market - sending you off on your journey with a warm invitation to return. Ciao!
