Help for wildfire victims in California

Wildfires like those tearing through the Los Angeles area put both animals and people at risk, and the hearts of AVMA members go out to all of those who are affected. The AVMA has many free resources to help animal owners protect pets and livestock, and to prepare veterinary practices and teams to respond quickly in an emergency.

We're inspired to be part of a community that comes together to help those in need. If you're looking for ways to support veterinary colleagues and animals, the AVMF has two grant programs that directly assist those who are impacted by wildfires and other emergencies.

• Disaster reimbursement grants repay AVMA member veterinarians for the costs of providing emergency care to animals in disasters, ensuring these animals have access to quality care when they need it.
• Disaster relief grants help pay for basic necessities-like food, shelter, and clothing-when veterinarians, veterinary team members, and veterinary students suffer personal losses.
